Tonight started out slowly, with it taking a great deal of time to find any of the owls.  But eventually, one showed itself, followed by more.  How may more, I’m not sure.

Then the owls made their way north, stopping by the stream.  I went around to the other side, while other stayed on one side of the Loch.  While I saw two owls in a low tree branch, they got to see an owl take a long bath.

I also heard one of the parents calling, although we didn’t get a family sing along, like we did on Monday.

We had singing again.  Jean said based on the pitch, she thinks the kids are two boys and a girl.   I have no idea being tone deaf!

After we went looking for the kids, without any luck by the stream, one of the parents called while we were packing up.  As we left we heard another owl call by the arch.

It was a fun night.  The young owls sung with their parents.  A parent would led, and the children would follow. The kids were a little off key. Its good they’re practicing.

After the singing, the kids ended up flying off in different directions, but two ended up returning to the stream.  One ended up bathing.  Finally, someone taking a bath on a night other than Saturday!  Our joke about Saturday bath night will have to be retired.

Amazingly, I’ve still been able to keep up with our three Eastern Screech-Owl fledglings in the North Woods. They’re starting to look more and more like adults each day.

All three kids accounted for this evening.  They have taken to dropping straight down to the low bushes to avoid the robins at fly out.  There is a Wood Thrush nest next to the owls roost with aggressive parents as well.

I didn’t see the parents, but it doesn’t seem to matter.  The fledglings are starting to look very grown up!  They’re starting to get vertical stripes in the front.

Tonight, the young owls were active early and spent about ten minutes by the stream after fly out.  Then they gave me the slip!  They’re getting older!
